Founded in 1794, the town of Cornish is one of the most impressive small towns in Maine with its’ handsome historic business district. Located in the foothills of the White Mountains and roughly 45 minutes west of Portland, the town of Cornish, Maine is one of the most photogenic villages in Maine. The town has maintained the character of a bygone era while offering modern conveniences along with a number of quaint and unique shops. Known as the “antique center” of the lakes and mountain region of southwestern Maine, the town of Cornish is a mecca of intriguing antique shops. This quaint town also offers some spectacular scenic vistas in addition to antique shops. A view of the majestic Mt. Washington and other nearby peaks can also be seen from several places in Cornish Maine.
